Team Overview

General
Pakistan won bronze on their Asian Games debut in 1962 in Jakarta, but have not added to their medal tally in 12 subsequent appearances. They have competed in all but three of the men's volleyball tournaments at the Games, only missing 1958, 1982, and 2006.

In 2018 in Indonesia, the Pakistani team ranked second in Pool B after a win against Mongolia and a defeat to the Islamic Republic of Iran. They faced tough opponents in eventual silver medallists the Republic of Korea in the first knockout round, and were eliminated following a 3-0 loss. They went on to finish the tournament in eighth place after recording victories over India and the People's Republic of China and a defeat to Thailand in the classification rounds.

Pakistan competed at the Asian championship 15 times between 1987 and 2021, achieving a highest ranking of fourth [1989] in that period. At the 2021 edition of the tournament in Japan, they posted victories over Thailand and Hong Kong, China in the preliminary round, but a 3-1 loss to Chinese Taipei in the second group round ultimately meant they missed out on the semifinals. They beat the Republic of Korea 3-0 in the seventh place play-off.

The Pakistani team placed sixth on their debut at the Asian Cup in 2022. They lost all four matches across two group phases, before recording one win against Australia and one loss to the Islamic Republic of Iran in the classification rounds. The team also finished as runners-up behind India at the 2019 South Asian Games.
