He learned how to play chess at age six. (prosports.kz, 26 Mar 2019)
:
"As a child, I really liked chess. I remember how on TV they showed the successes of chess players who were our neighbours at that time. They won regional championships, took medals, so I began to ask my father, 'What is chess? How can I learn to play?' He taught me the rules. Once he even invited those neighbours, chess players, to our home. Basically, I just watched them: how they think, how they play. For about a year I played only at home - as soon as relatives or guests would come to us, I immediately asked to play chess with them. After a while I went to a chess club." (prosports.kz, 26 Mar 2019)
:
He was named Male Athlete of the Year 2022 at the KazChess Awards held by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation. (inform.kz, 13 Mar 2023)
