Highlights:

Uzbekistan has competed at every edition of the Asian Games since 1994.

The 2018 Games saw Uzbekistani athletes return record tallies of total and gold medals as the NOC enjoyed its best Games to date. In Indonesia, canoe sprinter Vadim Menkov became the first Uzbekistani athlete to win four gold medals when he claimed the C1 1000m title for a fourth consecutive edition of the Games, overtaking fellow paddler Ivan Kireev's total of three golds won at the 1994 Games. Menkov's victory in 2018 also made him the first canoe sprinter from any nation to win a gold medal at four consecutive editions of the Games. Uzbekistani athletes have achieved more medals in canoe sprint than any other at the Asian Games.

Artistic gymnast Oksana Chusovitina also extended her national record for career Asian Games medals in 2018 when she secured an eighth podium finish, at age 43, by retaining her silver in vault. Chusovitina joined the People's Republic of China's Chen Cuiting as the only female artistic gymnasts to have won eight medals at the Games.

Uzbekistan has historically also been strong in combat sports. Freestyle wrestlers Artur Taimazov and Dilshod Mansurov have each won three gold medals, while Uzbekistan has claimed more boxing medals than any other NOC since 1994. Uzbekistani athletes also won 11 of the 27 medals awarded in kurash when the sport made its debut in 2018.
