Team Overview

General
Thailand made their Asian Games debut in women's water polo at the 2018 Games in Indonesia. They won their opening match against Hong Kong, China and their closing match against hosts Indonesia in the round-robin tournament, bookending losses to Kazakhstan, Japan, and eventual gold medallists the People's Republic of China. They ended the tournament ranked fourth out of six teams.

The Thai team made their debut at the world championships in 2022 in Budapest. Drawn in Group D alongside Greece, France, and Spain, they lost all three matches and finished bottom of the pool. However, their tournament finished on a positive note with a 10-6 victory over Colombia in the 15th place play-off.

Thailand were runners-up at the 2023 Asian Water Polo Championships in Singapore, where they won three of their six matches in a round-robin tournament that also featured Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Singapore. As hosts of the 2022 edition of the tournament in Samut Prakan, the Thai team ranked fourth after losing to the People's Republic of China in the semifinals and to Kazakhstan in the bronze medal match.

The team claimed gold at the South East Asian Games in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2023, winning all 13 of their matches across the four tournaments.
