Team Overview

General
Hong Kong, China competed at the inaugural Asian Games volleyball tournament in 1958 in Tokyo, finishing fifth of the five teams that took part in a round-robin competition. Since then they have made a further eight appearances, including at the last four editions of the Games.

In 2018 in Indonesia, the Hong Kong, China team defeated Maldives in Pool F but lost their other two group matches to India and Qatar. In the classification round they were beaten 3-1 by Vietnam and secured a second 3-0 win over Maldives to place 19th out of 20 teams. Their highest ranking at the Asian Games this century is 13th place in 2006.

Hong Kong, China made eight appearances at the Asian championship between 1983 and 2021. At the 2021 edition of the tournament in Japan, they finished bottom of their group after defeat to eventual champions the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as to Pakistan and Thailand. In the classification round they also lost to Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, before a 3-2 win over Kuwait sent them into the 13th place play-off. They finished the tournament ranked 14th following a 3-0 defeat to Uzbekistan.

In the team's debut appearance at the Asian Cup in 2022, they lost all four of their matches across two pool phases to finish the tournament ranked 11th from 11 teams.
