Team Overview

General
The People's Republic of China won the first three Asian Games softball titles following the introduction of the sport in 1990. The team have finished on the podium at each edition of the Games since then, picking up the silver medal in 2002 and 2010 and bronze in 2006, 2014, and 2018. At the 2018 Games in Indonesia they claimed third place after suffering defeats to Japan and Chinese Taipei in the play-off round.

Since 2000 the Chinese team have won five medals at the Asian championship. They secured bronze in 2004, 2007, and 2011, and finished as runners-up in 2019 and 2023 after losing the final to Japan at both tournaments. In 2023 they were beaten 6-0 in the gold medal game.

The team were most successful on the world stage in the 1980s and 1990s. They won world championship silver in 1986, bronze in 1990, and silver again in 1994. That success was followed by a silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
