Team Overview

General
Hong Kong, China are yet to win a medal at the Asian Games, although they came close in both 2010 and 2014. At the first Asian Games women's sevens tournament at Guangzhou 2010, they were defeated by Thailand after extra time in the bronze medal match. Four years later in Incheon, they lost the third place play-off to Kazakhstan having previously beaten the Kazakhstani team in the group stage.

At the 2018 Games in Indonesia, the Hong Kong, China team finished fifth. They recorded comfortable wins over Singapore and the Republic of Korea and a defeat to the People's Republic of China in Pool A, before losing 17-5 to Thailand in the quarterfinals. They swept aside Indonesia [51-0] and Singapore [45-0] in the classification rounds to claim fifth place.

Hong Kong, China ranked fourth overall in the 2022 Asian Series behind the People's Republic of China, Japan, and Thailand. They lost the fourth place play-off to Thailand at two of the three legs of the competition. The team had finished third in the 2021 Asian Series, which was also their ranking in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

The Hong Kong, China team participated in one leg of the 2022/23 World Series as hosts, finishing last of 12 teams.
