Team Overview

General
Chinese Taipei have competed in five of the six men's sevens tournaments to have taken place at the Asian Games, only missing out on the 2010 Games in Guangzhou. They have won one medal, a silver in 2002, while they have also experienced the disappointment of placing fourth on two occasions [1998 and 2006].

Chinese Taipei had their progress halted by the Japanese team at the quarterfinal stage at both the 2014 and 2018 Asian Games. In 2018 in Indonesia, they posted one win and two losses in the group stage before eventual silver medallists Japan knocked them out in the last eight. In the classification round, they lost to the People's Republic of China and defeated Thailand to place seventh overall.

The team took part in all eight editions of the Asian Series between 2012 and 2019. In 2019 they ranked last of eight teams, with their best tournament performance a sixth-place finish at the second leg of the series in the People's Republic of China.

On the global stage, Chinese Taipei participated in the World Cup in 1993, 2001, and 2005. They also finished sixth as hosts of the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung.
