Team Overview

General
Thailand are competing at their fourth consecutive Asian Games at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou. The team first appeared at the Games in 1986 and next participated as hosts of the 1998 edition in Bangkok, before an absence of 12 years. They finished sixth in 2010 and seventh in 2014.

At the 2018 Asian Games the Thais ranked sixth again. Drawn in Group B, they recovered from opening defeats against Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea to overcome hosts Indonesia 2-0. However, a final group stage loss against India was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Malaysia in the fifth place play-off.

Thailand's 2022 Asia Cup campaign ended in similar fashion. They recorded a sole group win over Indonesia [4-0] and though they overcame Singapore 1-0 in the first classification round, they lost another fifth place match to the Malaysians [3-0]. They also ranked sixth at the 2017 edition of the tournament.

Between 1999 and 2023, Thailand won seven silver medals at the South East Asian Games. They finished as runners-up to Malaysia on each occasion, and lost 4-1 to the Malaysians in the final at the 2023 Games in Cambodia.
