Team Overview

General
Kuwait reached three consecutive finals at the Asian Games between 1998 and 2006. They were beaten in the first two, losing to the Republic of Korea both times, before securing their first Asian Games title in 2006 with a 27-24 victory over hosts Qatar in Doha. The Kuwaitis have also placed fourth on three occasions at the Games. They lost to the Republic of Korea in the bronze medal match in 1982 in New Delhi, while they also just missed the podium in 1986 and 1994 when the tournament was contested in a round-robin format.

Recent years have been more difficult for the Kuwait team. Competing as Athletes from Kuwait in 2010, they were eliminated in the preliminary round and then lost the seventh-place classification match to the People's Republic of China. They were ranked fifth at the 2014 Games in Incheon, and did not compete in Indonesia in 2018.

Kuwait won four Asian championship titles between 1995 and 2006. They have also claimed two silver medals and four bronze medals at the tournament, but could only manage seventh place at the 2022 edition in Saudi Arabia.

The team finished 12th out of 12 teams in their two Olympic appearances in 1980 and 1996. They have competed at eight editions of the world championships, with a best finish of 15th in 1982.
