Team Overview

General
The Mongolian women's basketball team made their Asian Games debut in 2014 in Incheon, prior to which they had never taken part in a regional or continental Games. The team topped the qualifying round in Incheon with victories over Kazakhstan, Nepal, and Qatar [who forfeited], but suffered a heavy defeat against the Republic of Korea in their opening final round knockout match. Mongolia went on to lose classification matches against India and Thailand to finish eighth overall.

At the 2018 Games in Indonesia, the Mongolian team won their opening match against Hong Kong, China, but lost their next three games to Japan, the People's Republic of China, and Thailand. That was enough to qualify for the knockout stages but Chinese Taipei proved too strong for Mongolia in the quarterfinals with a 76-59 victory.
