In July 2022 he sustained a groin injury during a training camp in Chula Vista, CA, United States of America. He did not compete at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, OR, United States of America, or the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, as a result of the injury. In 2020 he broke his left wrist. He could not throw for three months and resumed training in January 2021. After competing at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, he underwent wrist surgery in September 2021. He returned to competition in February 2022.
