Team Singapore - Profile
NOC Overview
Singapore is one of seven NOCs to have competed in every edition of the Asian Games.
Singapore's outstanding performer in the early years of the Asian Games was men's swimmer Neo Chwee Kok, who won four gold medals in 1951 - the most golds of any athlete at the inaugural Games in New Delhi. He remains the only Singaporean athlete to have won four Asian Games gold medals. The Singaporean athlete with the most Asian Games medals of any colour is women's swimmer Patricia Chan, who won a total of 10 medals across the 1966 and 1970 Games.
The NOC's best performance at a single edition of the Games came in 2006, when it brought home 27 medals, including eight golds, from Doha. Singaporean sailors dominated, winning five gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
Swimmer Joseph Schooling topped Singapore's medal tally at the 2018 Games. He won two of Singapore's four golds in Indonesia, with the other two claimed by the men's bridge team and sailors Kimberly Lim and Cecilia Low in the women's 49er FX class. Schooling's two golds in Indonesia took his total tally to three Asian Games gold medals, just one behind Neo Chwee-Kok's record for the NOC.
Also in Indonesia, Mervyn Yingjie Toh won Singapore's first canoe sprint medal at the Games with bronze in the men's K1 200m, while in fencing the women's foil team won bronze to secure the NOC's second Asian Games fencing medal.
