Team Palestine - Profile
NOC Overview
Palestine has competed in every edition of the Asian Games since making its debut in 1990. The NOC's only medal came at the 2002 Games in Busan, where boxer Monir Abukeshek won a bronze medal in the men's light heavyweight division.
Palestine sent a 46-strong delegation to the 2018 Asian Games. Among the NOC's top performances in Indonesia was Mohanad Ali's sixth place in the men's 10,000m. Ali originally crossed the line in seventh position but in 2020 Bahraini athlete Hassan Chani was stripped of his gold medal in the event for doping offences.
Also in Indonesia, beach volleyball pair Mohammed Alqishawi and Khaled Alarqan ended the men's tournament ranked equal ninth, while the men's football team were eliminated in the round of 16. The NOC's youngest competitors at the 2018 Games were 14-year-old women's swimmer Dania Nour and 16-year-old men's swimmer Adam Barghouthy, who both took part in three events each in the pool.
