NOC Overview
Maldives has competed at every edition of the Asian Games since making its debut in 1982. Athletes from the NOC are yet to win a medal at the Asian Games.
At the 2018 Games Maldives sent a delegation of more than 80 athletes to compete across 10 sports. Some of the NOC's best results in Indonesia included a ranking of equal fifth in the women's badminton team event after defeat to the People's Republic of China in the quarterfinals, which matched the NOC's previous best ranking of equal fifth in the men's badminton team event from the 1994 Games.
Men's singles badminton player Hussein Shaheed ended his campaign in Indonesia ranked equal ninth, while then-16-year-old athletics competitor Aishath Himna Hassan finished with the 15th-best time out of 18 entrants in the women's 400m. The NOC's youngest competitor at the 2018 Games was 13-year-old Mohamed Sujau Thabin, who participated in the men's table tennis team event, while two 14-year-old swimmers, Hussain Hassan and Aishath Hulva Khulail, took part in eight men's and seven women's events, respectively.
