NOC Overview
Kuwait has appeared at every Asian Games since 1974 with the exception of the 2010 edition, where Athletes from Kuwait competed under the Olympic flag as Kuwait's NOC had been suspended by the International Olympic Committee [IOC].
The majority of Kuwait's Asian Games gold medals have been in shooting and karate. Shooter Fehaid Aldeehani leads the way both in gold medals and total medals, with four golds, four silvers and two bronze in men's trap and double trap between 1994 and 2014. The only Kuwaiti athlete with more than one gold medal in a sport other than shooting is male karateka Ahmad Mohammad, who won gold in 2002 [kumite 75kg] and 2006 [kumite 80kg]. Nadia Al Mutawa is the only female athlete to have claimed a gold medal for Kuwait, and her victory in the individual equestrian jumping competition in 1982 in New Delhi was also the NOC's first Asian Games gold medal. A men's handball triumph at the 2006 Games is Kuwait's only gold in a team sport.
In Indonesia in 2018, the NOC won six medals, including three golds. Mansour Al Rashedi won the men's skeet shooting event, Ali Abdulaziz secured victory in karate in the men's kumite 67kg category, and Ali Al Khorafi claimed the individual equestrian jumping title. Also in Indonesia, shooters Abdullah Alrashidi and Khaled Almudhaf extended their shared record of most Asian Games appearances representing Kuwait to five. Both athletes also competed at the 2010 Games under the Olympic flag.
