Team Cambodia - Profile
NOC Overview
Cambodia first appeared at the Asian Games in 1954. After competing as Khmer Republic in 1970 and 1974, the NOC would not return to the Games until 1994, but has appeared at every edition since then. Athletes representing Cambodia have won three gold medals at the Asian Games, claiming all of them between 2014 and 2018.
Taekwondoka Sorn Seavmey became Cambodia's first Asian Games gold medallist in 2014 in Incheon, winning the women's 73kg category. Four years later in Indonesia, 16-year-old ju-jitsu athlete Jessa Khan claimed gold in the women's ne-waza 49kg category and male jet skier Ou Moeut Saly secured the open ski modified event title. Saly also claimed bronze in the open runabout 1100 stock competition in Indonesia.
Cambodia's early appearances at the Asian Games yielded medals in boxing, swimming, and volleyball. At the 1970 Games in Bangkok, male boxers Savoem Long and Sooun Khieu won silver in the welterweight and light welterweight categories, respectively, which were the NOC's best Asian Games results until Seavmey's gold 44 years later.
