Team Brunei Darussalam - Profile
NOC Overview
Brunei Darussalam has appeared at every edition of the Asian Games since 1990. The NOC won its first two medals at the 1994 Games, with female karatekas Meghan Loo and Dk Marliza Pg Omar claiming bronze in their respective kumite weight categories in Hiroshima.
The first male athletes representing Brunei Darussalam to win a medal at the Asian Games were the sepaktakraw team who secured bronze in regu in 1998. Four years later at Busan 2002, karateka Tong Kit Siong became the first Bruneian man to win an Asian Games medal in an individual sport with bronze in the kumite 75kg category. Brunei Darussalam has not won another medal at the Games since then.
At the 2018 Games in Indonesia the NOC made its Games debut in two sports - athletics and weightlifting. Sprinter Mohammad Fakhri Ismail took part in the men's 100m, while Muhammad Noor Firdaus Ar-Rasyid competed in the men's 200m, with neither progressing beyond the heats. In weightlifting, Ak Yusri Amir Pg Dato Setia Yusof ended the men's 85kg category ranked 11th.
The NOC's highest finish in Indonesia was a fifth place in the women's pencak silat regu event.
