NOC Overview

Bhutan has sent athletes to every edition of the Asian Games since 1986, but is yet to win a medal. The men's recurve archery team at the 1998 Games came close to the podium with a fourth-place finish in Bangkok, which remains Bhutan's highest ranking at the Asian Games.

In 2018 in Indonesia the NOC had representatives in archery, boxing, golf, and taekwondo. Women's teenage taekwondokas Lham Tshering [+67kg] and Sonam Yangtsho [67kg] finished with the NOC's highest ranking in Indonesia when both were knocked out of the quarterfinals stage of their respective weight classes to finish ranked equal fifth.

Also in Indonesia, the men's compound archery team were eliminated by Islamic Republic of Iran in the round of 16, while the men's recurve team were eliminated by Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the first elimination round. Teenage golfer, Ugen Dorji, the second athlete to represent Bhutan in the sport at the Games, ended the men's individual event in 68th place out of 86 competitors.
