Her sister Shahrbano Mansouriyan Semi has represented the Islamic Republic of Iran in wushu, and won five individual gold medals at the world championships between 2011 and 2019. She became interested in wushu because she enjoyed Bruce Lee films. "Growing up my family had very little money so both my sister Shahrbano and I decided that we needed to find a sport to help provide for our family.
