Her father Toshikazu Fujinami competed in freestyle wrestling at national level in Japan, and advanced to the final national trials ahead of the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. He has also worked as wrestling coach at Nippon Sport Science University in Japan. Her older brother Yuhi Fujinami has represented Japan in freestyle wrestling, winning bronze medals at the 2017 World Championships in Paris, France, and the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
