Team Overview

General
Mongolia are making their fourth appearance at the Asian Games, and their first since 2010. On their debut in 1994 they finished winless and last out of six teams. The team improved at the 2006 Games in Doha, where they posted one win in the group stage [over Tajikistan] before a quarterfinal defeat to eventual gold medallists the People's Republic of China.

The Mongolian team's most recent Asian Games appearance came at Guangzhou 2010, where once again their only group stage win came against Tajikistan. They were then beaten 3-0 by Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals, and finished the tournament ranked eighth following classification round defeats to Japan and Chinese Taipei.

Mongolia made their Asian championship debut in 2013, finishing 14th, and improved to 11th place at the 2015 edition of the tournament. Their only appearance at the world championship was back in 1970, when they lost all 10 of their matches and ended the tournament ranked last of 16 teams.
