Additional Information

General
UNIVERSITY CLASS
During her senior year at the University of California, Berkeley in the United States of America she led a two-credit class on female student-athlete leadership at the School of Public Health. She held the class each Thursday, with about 30 student-athletes attending. "The first couple of weeks I wanted to get to know the class and create a safe environment for people to start talking. The goal is for the students to engage with these speakers, ask questions and gain tools that they can use with their teams and learn more about themselves as leaders." (scmp, 13 May 2016; calbears, 22 Jan 2016)

LEADERSHIP
She was team captain while at the International School of Beijing in the People's Republic of China between 2009 and 2011. She was also co-captain during her senior year at the University of California, Berkeley. "I've learned leadership. There are a million definitions for that, but I came in thinking I'm not a leader. I can't be captain. I've learned more about myself, what my strengths are, what my weaknesses are and how can I elevate my strengths to be a leader. I just think that everyone has something in them that they can contribute, and it's about bringing those traits out." (calbears, 22 Jan 2016; swimswam, 22 Dec 2015)

FURTHER EDUCATION
Between 2017 and 2019 she studied for a master's degree in industrial and organisational psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2021 she earned a graduate certificate in sports performance and psychology from the University of Western States in Portland, OR, United States of America. (LinkedIn profile, 12 Apr 2022)

FAMILY BACKGROUND
Her father is from Chinese Taipei, and her mother is from France. She was born in Hong Kong, China and attended the French International School until her family moved to Beijing, People's Republic of China, when she was age nine. (scmp, 13 May 2016; calbears, 22 Jan 2016)
