She initially played badminton after being inspired by Indian badminton player PV Sindhu, but later followed her sister into squash. "I used to play badminton for two years, I started at six. I used to play at national level. My sister Amira used to play squash at national level as well. I went with her to a few tournaments and a few practice sessions and I had a lot of fun. I played both sports for one and a half years [until] I finally decided to go to squash. I was drawn to it because I loved the noise of the ball hitting the wall."
