Team Overview

General
Kazakhstan won the inaugural Asian Games women's sevens title in 2010, going undefeated through the tournament before beating hosts the People's Republic of China 17-14 in the final. They returned to the podium at the next two editions of the Games, claiming bronze in both 2014 and 2018, and are one of only two teams [along with the People's Republic of China] to have won a medal at all three Asian Games to feature women's sevens.

At the 2014 Games, the Kazakhstani team lost in the semifinals to the People's Republic of China before beating Hong Kong, China in the bronze medal match. In 2018 in Indonesia they posted wins against Thailand and Indonesia, as well as a loss to Japan, in Pool B. They thrashed Singapore 34-0 in the quarterfinals, but were again defeated by eventual champions Japan [26-12] at the semifinal stage. They bounced back to win the bronze medal match 29-7 over Thailand.

Kazakhstan finished fifth overall in the 2022 Asian Series after ranking fifth twice and fourth once at the three legs of the competition. They had not placed lower than fourth overall in their previous seven appearances at the Asian Series, and secured third place in 2013, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
