She took up the sport in 2015 through a school programme run by the United Arab Emirates Ju-Jitsu Federation. "I wanted to improve further so I joined a club in 2017." (thenationalnews, 27 Jul 2022)

"I didn't do any other sport before ju-jitsu but I was a very active person; cycling and playing football with my brothers and my friends. I loved ju-jitsu from the very first class I attended. I was studying in Abu Dhabi at the time. And I remember thinking that it would be a good experience as I wanted to learn some self-defence techniques."
