Team Overview

General
Kazakhstan debuted at the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1998, where they were ranked sixth, and have gone on to make a further three appearances at the Games. At Indonesia 2018, they beat Thailand in their opening group match but lost their next three games and finished bottom of Pool B. They were then beaten 2-0 by Hong Kong, China in the ninth-place match. Four years earlier in Incheon they recorded one win and two defeats in the preliminary round, which was not enough to qualify for the semifinals. Their tournament ended with an 8-0 loss to Malaysia in the fifth-place classification match.

The Kazakhstani team's second Asian Games appearance in 2010 ended in controversy after it was discovered that three players in their squad had also represented Belarus in a World Cup qualifier in 2010. Four of the team's matches were awarded as 5-0 victories to the opposition, with the 10-3 loss to the Republic of Korea and the 6-0 defeat to India remaining as official results. Kazakhstan finished bottom of the standings in the preliminary round, ending the tournament in seventh place.

Kazakhstan competed at five editions of the Asia Cup between 1999 and 2017, never finishing higher than fifth.
