Team Overview

General
Myanmar are making their Asian Games debut in Hangzhou.

The team first appeared at the Asian Cup in 2003, when they finished second in their group after securing wins over the Philippines and Guam, but did not progress to the knockout rounds. They have featured at the Asian Cup four more times without recording another win. At the 2022 edition in India, they lost their opening group matches to Japan [5-0] and the Republic of Korea [2-0] before earning a 2-2 draw with Vietnam, and only missed out on a quarterfinal spot due to an inferior goal difference.

Myanmar have won a number of medals at the South East Asian Games, including silver in 2003 and 2005, and bronze at each of the five women's football tournaments held from 2007 to 2019. At the 2022 AFF Championship in the Philippines, they won the third place play-off 4-3 against Vietnam to secure back-to-back third-place finishes at the tournament.
