Team Overview

General
The People's Republic of China have battled it out with the Republic of Korea in the final of each edition of the Asian Games since the event was introduced at the 2002 Games. The Chinese team emerged victorious from the first three finals [2002, 2006, and 2010], but the Korean team gained a measure of revenge by taking the title at the two most recent editions of the Games [2014 and 2018].

The People's Republic of China have won 13 Asian championship titles since 2003, including four consecutively between 2016 and 2019, making them the dominant team at the competition this century. However, they have finished third and second at the last two editions of the tournament, after losing to Japan in the semifinals in 2022 and to the Republic of Korea in the final in 2023.

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Chinese team beat Poland and France before facing Ukraine in the gold medal match. They had to settle for silver after Ukraine prevailed in a tight encounter, 45-44. The team made their second Olympic appearance at the 2020 Games in Tokyo, where they ranked seventh after losing to Italy in the quarterfinals.
