Additional Information

General
NEW WEIGHT CLASS
She is aiming to compete in the 66kg weight class at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after the welterweight category [69kg] was removed from the boxing programme for the 2024 Games in Paris. She previously competed in the middleweight category [75kg] at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and in the welterweight category [69kg] at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. "I want to fight for 66kg in the reduced weight class of the Paris Olympics. I can only grit my teeth and survive the weight loss adaptation period." (sports.ltn.com.tw, 28 Dec 2022)

ILLNESS
She was diagnosed with lymphoma in November 2019. She stopped training for one year to receive treatment. (tw.news.yahoo.com, 01 Oct 2021; udn.com, 01 Oct 2021)

FURTHER EDUCATION
She has studied for a master's degree in sport science at Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Chinese Taipei. (tw.news.yahoo.com, 01 Oct 2021)

TRAINING WITH BOYS
She moved to Hsinchu in Chinese Taipei at age 14 to start training in boxing, and on arrival discovered that she was the only girl in the team. "[The] good thing about training with the boys is that they can make you stronger very quickly. The other good thing is that they can very quickly [help] you improve your technique and tactics. In the process of playing against boys, you may cry, you may experience too much pressure, you may just collapse. [But] it's because I've been practising with the boys that I've slowly started to be able to, even if I don't do something well today, grit my teeth and keep going through it."
