Aside from the tactical or technical aspect of it, boxing taught me the lesson to be a better person. One thing I'll always cherish is that boxing gave me the power to embrace my failure." Additional Information

General
PRESSURE FOLLOWING MEDAL
She won bronze in the women's welterweight category at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but was disappointed with her performances at the 2022 World Championships in Istanbul, Turkiye, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. She believed the downturn in form was partly because of the extra pressure now she is an Olympic medallist, and partly because she was in the process of moving up to the 75kg category ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She went on to compete in the 75kg division at the 2022 Asian Championships in Amman, Jordan, and claimed gold. "Life has changed a lot since I won the Olympic medal. Back then, I was nobody. Today people know me and look up to me as a role model. Hence, they expect a lot more from me. Since the Olympic medal, I had not been at my best and so naturally there was a lot of criticism. The couple of tournaments I played after the Olympics was at a time when I was training keeping in mind the switch in weight category for the Paris Olympics. It was a very different challenge for me competing in 75kg. I did not know a lot of my opponents but in the end I managed to come out on top. The Asian level is very tough for Indian boxers. There are a lot of good players, so it felt good to overcome this challenge after a slump in form." (thebridge, 16 Nov 2022)
