Team Overview

General
Dmitriy Yakovlev and Sergey Bogatu first competed internationally together in 2015, and the pair are making their second appearance together at the Asian Games. In 2018 they were eliminated in the round of 16 by the eventual bronze medallists Gilang Ramadhan and Danangsyah Pribadi of Indonesia, losing 2-1 after they had won two of three matches in the pool phase.

Yakovlev and Bogatu produced their best Asian championship result on their debut together at the tournament in 2018, reaching the semifinals before missing out on the podium following a third place play-off defeat to compatriots Alexey Sidorenko and Alexandr Dyachenko. At the 2023 Asian Championships in Fuzhou, they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Australia's Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher. The duo claimed their first podium finish on the World Beach Pro Tour together in 2019 when they placed third at the event in Satun, Thailand. They nearly repeated that result in 2023, losing the third place play-off at the same location in April.

Yakovlev previously competed at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014 with former partner Alexey Kuleshov, with the pair losing the bronze medal match at Guangzhou 2010. Yakovlev also finished as runner-up at the Asian championships in 2014 [with Kuleshov] and 2009 [with Alexey Kulinich].
