Team Overview

General
Hong Kong, China are making their 13th appearance at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Having debuted at the 1958 Games, they have competed at the last six editions of the Games going back to 1998 in Bangkok.

In recent years, Hong Kong, China's best finish is eighth out of 12 teams at the 2002 Games. Since then, however, the team has failed to finish inside the top 10. At the 2018 Games in Indonesia, the team lost their three group games against Qatar, Japan and Chinese Taipei to finish last out of 13 teams.

Hong Kong, China have appeared regularly at the Asia Cup [formerly the Asia championship] since 1960, but are yet to come close to winning a medal. The team finished second-last and winless at the 2017 Asia Cup, which was the last time they took part in the tournament.
