RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
In 2014 he decided to step away from badminton in order to study at Bale Bandung University in Indonesia after he was not selected to train with the national team. "I won in the mixed doubles there [at the 2013 National Junior Championships] but I was not called to the National Training Center the following year. I was very disappointed. I was trying to pursue badminton. So, in February 2014 I talked to my parents and club about wanting to quit the sport to pursue education. My club persuaded me to try badminton for another year, but I was already studying. At the time I moved up and played on the senior circuit, while still focusing on my studies. But then five months after studying, the Indonesian Badminton Association [PBSI] called and offered me an internship position at the National Training Center. The coaches there asked me to choose a category freely. I played well in the mixed doubles, but I always wanted to play in the men's doubles." DOUBLES BUSINESS
In 2019 he and his doubles partner Muhammad Rian Ardianto established Fajri Coffee in Bandung, Indonesia. The pair first played together at the 2014 Indonesia Challenge event in Jakarta. "We have a coffee shop business. My brother runs the daily operation. Our first consideration was that we had the money but were confused what to do with it. So, since we both like coffee and hanging out, I asked Rian if he wanted to manifest the idea."
