MOVE TO AUSTRALIA
She left Afghanistan at a young age and settled as a refugee in the Islamic Republic of Iran. At age 17 she was noticed by Afghan officials in a competition to discover female athletes, and began training seriously soon afterwards in Afghanistan. She moved back to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2021, before relocating to Australia in August 2022. "It was a difficult decision between continuing and giving up [after the 2020 Olympic Games]. Sport is my dream. We Afghan women never back down. We will always move forward. I'm going to be training very, very hard [in Australia]. I am very excited about going to the next Olympic Games in Paris, so I'm definitely going to keep competing."
