"Originally I was a swimmer and I stopped when I was in grade two [of primary school]. Even when I was a swimmer I was already running. I always ran against the boys during recess. During every single break I had in school, I ran and played in the quadrangle. In my very first competition, I bagged everything. So that's how I knew I have a future in this sport. I think right after that first competition, I saw how happy my coach was, and I saw how proud my mum was, I think it was my choice to focus on it because before I joined track I was a little bit rebellious. When I found the sport, I channelled all my energy there, I forgot about the things I didn't like, finally I found something I really loved doing, which is running."
