Additional Information

General
SPORTING DIFFICULTIES
He lives in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic, and has experienced problems obtaining visas following the conflict that began there in 2011. He was unable to participate in the 2017 Diamond League meeting in Rabat, Morocco, after he was refused the papers to enter the country, although he then acquired a six-month visa through Spain that allowed him to compete in Europe. In 2022 he missed the world championships in Eugene, OR, United States of America, due to visa delays. He has also had to regularly go to Beirut, Lebanon, in order to travel to international events as there have been no international flights out of the Syrian Arab Republic. "I'm an expert in embassies, where they are, their addresses, when they open, when they close, what documents you need for a visa. I'm an administrative expert in this subject. Everyone is surprised when I say I still train and live in Syria." (Facebook profile, 01 Dec 2022; infobae.com, 14 Jul 2022; Athlete, 16 Feb 2020; sport360.com, 09 Aug 2017)
