Team Overview

General
The People's Republic of China have won gold in the women's team event at each edition of the Asian Games since artistic gymnastics was introduced to the programme in 1974. Chen Cuiting [1986, 1990], Liu Xuan [1994, 1998], and Zhang Nan [2002, 2006] are the only three athletes to have won multiple gold medals in the team event during that time.

The Chinese team have finished on the podium three times at the Olympic Games. The team claimed their first medal, a bronze, in Los Angeles in 1984, before securing gold in front of a home crowd in Beijing in 2008. In Rio de Janeiro in 2016, the team finished with bronze.

The People's Republic of China have achieved significant success at the world championships, finishing on the podium on 12 occasions. Their sole gold medal came at the 2006 edition of the tournament in Arhus, Denmark, which started a run of seven medals [one gold, three silver, three bronze] in the seven appearances the team made between 2006 and 2018. The team were ranked sixth at the 2022 World Championships in Liverpool, England.
