Team Overview

General
In 2014 the People's Republic of China became the first team other than the Republic of Korea to win gold in men's team recurve at the Asian Games since 1978. They defeated eight-time reigning champions the Republic of Korea in the semifinals before beating Malaysia, 6-0, in the gold medal match.

At the 2018 Games in Indonesia, the Chinese team followed up their first Asian Games gold medal with their fourth bronze. In Indonesia the Koreans gained a measure of revenge for 2014, defeating the People's Republic of China in the semifinals 5-3, before the Chinese team claimed third place with a 6-0 victory over Mongolia in the bronze medal match. They previously won silver at the Asian Games in 2010 and 1978, and bronze in 1998, 1986, and 1982.

The Chinese men's team have competed at eight editions of the Olympic Games and won their only Olympic medal, a bronze, as hosts in Beijing in 2008. They came close to a second medal when they finished fourth at the 2016 Games, falling to a semifinal defeat against the United States of America and a 6-2 loss to Australia in the bronze medal match. They lost in the quarterfinals to Chinese Taipei at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The People's Republic of China won their first world title in 2019 by overcoming the Republic of Korea in the semifinals and India in the final. On their next world championship appearance in 2023, they lost to Japan at the quarterfinal stage.
