Team Overview

General
The Republic of Korea won silver at the first Asian Games 3x3 basketball tournament in 2018, which was contested by U23 teams. They won all four of their pool matches, the closest of which was a 20-18 victory over Chinese Taipei. The team then eliminated Kazakhstan [17-13] in the last eight and Thailand [20-16] at the semifinal stage to set up a gold medal match against the People's Republic of China. A closely fought final stood at 17-17 following regulation time and would end in heartbreak for the Koreans, as they lost out 19-18 after overtime.

The team appeared at the 2019 U23 World Cup in Lanzhou. They did not manage to record a win in four pool stage matches against Serbia, the Netherlands, Mongolia, and Lithuania, and ranked 18th from 20 teams.

At senior level, the Republic of Korea have reached the quarterfinals at the Asia Cup twice, losing to eventual champions Australia in 2018 and to the People's Republic of China in 2022. At the 2023 Asia Cup in Singapore they did not progress from the qualifying round and finished in 15th place.

Their maiden appearance at the senior World Cup in 2017 ended in a 17th-place finish after a sole victory over Indonesia. The team repeated that ranking on their next appearance two years later, posting a single win against Turkiye.
